Is it something you feel like you could learn with? In always up fora bit more technical knowledge.

Does it have a feature where a customer holding an iPhone insists that their car with a windowed block “just needs a crank sensor”?

I am still about halfway through 2014. I like how everything is really broken up into bite sized pieces in it. You can just say I fancy doing a brake pad swap and changing out some of my suspension bushings without spending hours on it and possibly cursing myself as I break more stuff the more I try to fix.

I started getting daft with it and removing entire engines when I only needed to change a filter. Accidentally sold a customers cylinder head and had to buy a new one.

Now this is something I have to investigate along with Goat Simulator. I love mindless shit like this.

saw the 5 minute rundown on kotaku last night and seriously considered it. maybe i’ll buy it for my little bro (also a gamer and gearhead) for his birthday.

It seems like all the reviewers on YouTube are saying “it’s just like being a real mechanic!” but they don’t even know what a sway bar end link is. This game simulates being a mechanic the same way a climbing gym simulates Mt. Everest. Don’t get me wrong, I hope people enjoy it and learn something from it. Me watching “nope, wrong, doesn’t work like that, and that isn’t even possible” then I literally fell asleep.

I haven’t uttered “where the fuck is the 13mm socket” or “CURSE YOU RUST DEMONS” So yeah it’s nothing like really working on a car.

Sort of I guess. It’s very simplistic so it depends how strong your mechanical knowledge already is. I havent learned anything from it.

Lol, that reminds me of when I disassembled EVERYTHING (engine, trans, propshaft, exhaust, brakes, suspension) on the guys car and put it back together for just $300 just because it wouldn’t let me access the one part I needed. They thought they could deter me all it did was make me feel like this...

It’s quite addictive, not what I’d call realistic though haha.

I’ve got a job unlocking soon that says, rough running and no further details. I’m going to dismantle the whole thing.

If i actually know how to work on cars and stuff will this be fun or drive me crazy with inaccuracies and oversimplification?

It is heavily simplified, but not irritatingly so in my opinion. I work on cars fairly regularly and I’m happy to play it. It’s more complex than I expected it to be.

just watched a video of a nerd playing this. my favorite was “took off fuel tank cant find fuel filter” and “I dont know what I am doing I just take stuff apart”

Haha, I need to give it to my girlfriend and room mate to see how they manage. Neither of them knows much about cars, so it should be amusing.

It may be related to fuel, air or spark but you probably are right, the rear suspension and front left brake disc might be one of the culprits.

Worst case scenario is that the whole chassis is bent and you might need to replace it with a new shell.

It’s probably a write off, I’ll strip it for parts and tell the owner it was stolen from my car park.

When I unlock some harder jobs I’ll record someone who knows nothing about cars attempting it. Will probably be funny. My teenage brother doesn’t even know which pedal is which in a car, watching him try to change a crank would be hilarious.

It’s got the right idea for sure, it’s just an oversimplified perfect world. But if it wasn’t nobody would play it.

Yeah itd be a complete pain if you had to select the right tools/ sizes and input torque settings etc. Plus the complexity of a modern car would be near impossible to simulate properly. It strikes a decent balance for a game to pick up for half an hour and mess on with.
